Willie Fleming

Willie Fleming was known during his career as “Willie the Wisp” because of his elusive running style.

During his eight seasons Fleming rushed for 6,125 yards on 868 carries, and caught 231 passes for 4,480 yards and scored 86 touchdowns, one of them on a 109-yard rushing play in a 1964 game.

Fleming’s best season was 1963 when he rushed for 1,234 yards, gained 639 yards on pass receptions and 154 yards on kickoff returns.

Fleming also scored a decisive touchdown in the Lions’ 1964 Grey Cup win.

Willie Fleming was chosen most popular BC Lion three times and is a member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
