Career Highlights

  • Played in 196 games with the Edmonton Eskimos and the BC Lions.

  • 3rd on the Edmonton Eskimos All-Time career Most Return Yards with 2,190 (as of 2015).

  • 1st on the Edmonton Eskimos All-Time Longest Return with 118 yards. This happened on October 17, 1976 versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (as of 2015).


Larry Highbaugh began his Canadian Football League (CFL) career in 1971 as a defensive back for the BC Lions, where he played 22 games with BC before signing with the Edmonton Eskimos partway through the 1972 season.

Throughout his amazing career with Edmonton, Highbaugh lead in many statistical categories. One of his records was a 116-yard return on October 26th, 1975 versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

At the time of his retirement, Highbaugh was second in league history for most interceptions all-time in the regular season with 66 interceptions.

Highbaugh won numerous awards and honours throughout his fourteen year CFL career including being named All-Canadian three times.
Highbaugh played in nine Grey Cups winning six times. Highbaugh was part of the great Edmonton Eskimos dynasty from 1978 until 1982.
Larry Highbaugh is also a member of the Eskimo Wall of Honour and the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 2004 as a player.
