Career Highlights

  • Played 135 games in his CFL career.

  • Threw for over 5,000 yards on six occasions (1991 - 1994, 1996, and 1997).

  • 1st on the All-Time CFL Most Touchdown Passes in a season with 48 (as of 2015). This happened in 1994.


Doug Flutie played collegeiate football at Boston College, much like his brother Darren. His "Hail Mary" touchdown pass in a game vs. Miami on November 23, 1984 is considered among the greatest moments in college football and American sports history.

Flutie signed with the BC Lions in 1990 and in 1991, threw for a record 6,619 yards on 499 completions. In 1992, Flutie signed with the Calgary Stampeders, who he led to victory in the 1992 grey cup. Flutie signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 1996, leading them to back-to-back Grey Cup victories.

Doug Flutie is also a member of the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 2008 as a player.
