Career Highlights

  • A member of six straight Queen's University Intercollegiate championship teams.

  • Scored 11 points in the first ever East-West Grey Cup against Edmonton in 1921.

  • Scored 12 points in the 1923 Grey Cup against Regina.

Harry Batstone, a great halfback, was the Toronto Argonauts team captain when they won the first East-West Grey Cup Championship in 1921. Later on, Batstone started for Queen's University, the last University team to win the Grey Cup. When Batstone played for Queen's University, they won the Yates Cup (the Ontario collegiate championship) five times (1922 - 1925, and in 1927).

Once Harry Batstone's playing career was over, he coached Queen's University from 1929 to 1931 and won the intercollegiate championship in his first two years. During the late 1940's, Batstone was a member of the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (CIAU) football rules committee and was the Intercollegiate representative of the Canadian Rugby Union (CRU) rules committee.

Harry Batstone is also a member of the Queen's University Football Hall of Fame and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1963 as a player.
