Career Highlights

  • James rushed 995 times for 5,554 yards and scored a total of 645 points on 63 touchdowns in his 11-year career.

Gerry James, son of Canadian Football Hall of Fame member Eddie (Dynamite) James, began his professional football career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1952 at the age of 17 and was a starter the following year.

James was the Canadian Football League (CFL) scoring leader in 1957 and the western leader in 1960. He had more than 1,000 rushing yards in both the 1955 and 1957 seasons.

Gerry James is also a member of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and is a member of the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1981 as a player.
