Jack (Indian Jack) Jacobs, came to Canada to play with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after a successful career in the United States with the Cleveland Rams, Washington Redskins and the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). During his five seasons in Winnipeg, Jacobs completed 710 passes for 11,094 yards and 104 touchdowns and kicked 57 singles. He was the passing yardage leader in the west in 1951, 1952, and 1953 with 3,248, 2,586 and 1,924 yards respectively.

In the 1953 Grey Cup, Jacobs completed 31 passes for 357 yards, providing a great aerial display, but Winnipeg could not defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1963 as a player.
