Peter Dalla Riva came to Canada from Italy in 1953, and was destined to become one of Canada's most popular athletes.
He played with the Burlington Braves and the Oakville Black Knights of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) before joining the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.

Dalla Riva was Montreal's leading receiver in 1970, 1972, 1975 - 1977, and holds the Alouettes record for touchdown catches. The big Tight End often came up with clutch receptions and his tremendous blocking ability made him an important member of the Alouettes.

During the 1975 and 1976 seasons, Dalla Riva was Montreal's nominee for the Schenley Award for Outstanding Canadian, as well as their nominee for the Most Outstanding Player award in 1976.

Peter Dalla Riva's #74 jersey was retired by the Montreal Alouettes prior to the October 24, 1981 game.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1993 as a player.
