Career Highlights

  • 2nd on the Saskatchewan Roughriders All-Time Touchdowns in a career with 78 (as of 2015).

  • 1st on the Saskatchewan Roughriders All-Time yards in a career with 13, 198 (as of 2015).

  • 2nd on the Saskatchewan Roughriders All-Time receptions in a career with 830 (as of 2015).

Ray Elgaard played university football with the University of Utah and was the leading receiver in his senior year. He was selected in the second round (12th overall) by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 1983 Canadian Football League (CFL) College Draft where he played for his entire career.

He won many awards and honours throughout his career including being named All-Canadian four times, All-Western six times, Schenley awards winner three times, and was the Dr. Beattie Martin trophy winner three times.

Ray Elgaard was also named to the Saskatchewan Roughriders Plaza of Honour in 1999.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 2002 as a player.
