Career Highlights

At Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Ron Stewart was selected the team's most valuable player three times. Stewart broke all of the university's records for touchdowns and scoring points, and was a member of the Yates Cup (Ontario collegiate championship) championship teams in 1955 and 1956.

As a professional, and a member of the Ottawa Rough Riders, Stewart rushed for 5,690 yards on 983 carries. In 1960, Stewart's best season, he rushed 139 times for 1,020 yards; 287 yards in the October 10th game alone versus the Montreal Alouettes.

Stewart's jersey number 11 has been retired by the Ottawa Rough Riders.

Ron Stewart is also a member of the Queen's University Football Hall of Fame and the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1977 as a player.
