Career Highlights

  • Played in 169 games with the Ottawa Rough Riders.

  • 2nd in Canadian Football League (CFL) history with Highest Receiving Average in a career with 22 (as of 2015).

  • 1st on the Ottawa Rough Riders All-Time Career touchdowns list with 70.

Robert (Bob) Simpson was an excellent athlete who participated in the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland.

Simpson was an all-star at several positions and played in the 1957 East/West All-Star Game. During his career Simpson caught 274 passes for 6,034 yards and 65 touchdowns. Simpson was Ottawa's nominee for the Schenley Most Outstanding Canadian award three times and was the runner-up in 1956. That same year, Simpson was also their nominee for the Most Outstanding Player award.

Robert (Bob) Simpson is also a member of the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame, and the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1976 as a player.
