George Dixon's Canadian professional career lasted only seven seasons, but in that short time he made a major contribution to Canadian football

Dixon's best season was in 1962, when he was the Canadian Football League (CFL) leading rusher with 1,520 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was the recipient of many major awards that year, including a unanimous All-Eastern and All-Canadian selection.

In 1963, Dixon carried the ball for 1,270 yards and in the September 2, Dixon rushed for 109 yards on one play, which is still a CFL record at that time.

During his career he carried the ball 896 times for 5,615 yards and 59 touchdowns. Dixon had 24, 100-yard rushing games, eight of them in 1962.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1974 as a player.
