Career Highlights

  • Member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers All-Decade team of the 1960s.

  • 9th on the All-Time Canadian Football League (CFL) rushing list with 8,861 yards.

Leo Lewis starred in the backfield at Lincoln University and was known as the "Lincoln Locomotive". During his career in Canada, Lewis rushed 1,351 times for 8,861 yards and 48 touchdowns, carrying for more than 1,000 yards in the 1958 and 1961 seasons and had 234 pass receptions for 4,251 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Lewis was a tough and dedicated player who also returned 187 kickoffs for 5,444 yards. Lewis scored a career total 450 points on 75 touchdowns, 5 converts, and one single.

Leo Lewis is also a member of the Winnipeg Football Hall of Fame, when he was elected in 1984.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1973 as a player.
