Dick Shatto came to Canada after attending the University of Kentucky where he was a football and track star.

Shatto played fullback, halfback, slotback, and flanker and established 15 Toronto Argonauts club records and over 12 seasons he scored 542 points with 91 touchdowns, three converts, and one single. Shatto was the eastern scoring leader in 1963 with 81 points and the leader in pass receptions with 67.

Inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1975 as a player.
