Leo Lewis starred in the backfield at Lincoln University in Missouri and was known as the “Lincoln Locomotive”.

During his career, Lewis rushed 1,351 times for 8,861 yards and 48 touchdowns, carrying for more than 1,000 yards in both the 1958 and 1961 seasons. 

Lewis had 234 pass receptions for 4,251 yards and 26 touchdowns, also was a tough and dedicated player who also returned 187 kickoffs for 5,444 yards. Lewis scored a career total 450 points on 75 touchdowns, 5 converts, and one single.

Leo Lewis was named to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers All-Decade Team of the 1960’s and was elected to the Winnipeg Football Hall of Fame in 1984.
