Class of 1996
He is A. Gordon Craig now but he’ll always be Gordie to the Football Reporters of Canada.
Born in Brandon, Manitoba in the 1930s, Craig got into broadcasting with CBC Winnipeg in 1955. He did everything but mop the floors at first, then got behind a camera, shooting the Canadian Football League (CFL), then became a producer.
Then it was on to Toronto where he climbed the management ladder, one thing led to another and Gordie eventually became the head of The Sports Network (TSN), where his first love was still the CFL.
Without Craig’s corporate support, from TSN and Labatt’s The Football Reporters of Canada would be nothing.
Gordon Craig was inducted into the Football Reporters of Canada section of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum in 1996.
